Moving over from Chinatown to Brooklyn, we hosted our second event: Friday Night Lights, a FIFA 22 Launch Party in October of 2021 . We teamed up with BrookLAN to host a launch party for an opportunity to play the latest edition of the world’s most popular sport video game, along with a live DJ, pop-up shop, food, and drinks at New York’s largest home for ESports, video games, and tabletop. This boasts an impressive 5,100 square ft. location with over 60 PCs and consoles, 12 TVs, a full restaurant and bar, an arcade, and more, giving guests a little bit of everything.
This unique space provided us and our attendees with a wide range of activities, and it was great to see that the Launch Party had a little something for everyone. Our guests came through to enjoy great music, good vibes, food and drink, and some healthy competition in both FIFA and tabletop games like Uno and Jenga. FIFA 22 especially provided a lot of banter as we loved to see both our attendees and ourselves fully engaged in trying to win this latest edition of the game.
Wavy Footy’s own DJ Havok was in the building curating the vibes for the night, with a genre-bending range as wide as our weekly Music Mondays. Whether you were there for FIFA, other games, the bar or arcade, a versatile blend of music was a guarantee for all attendees.
Sebastian Caillat, a young footy fashion designer from DC that is now at NYU, pulled up to our event and had a pop-up shop for his clothing brand BySebastian Caillat. His brand is focused on vintage style and footy inspired streetwear, with wavy designs for ballers like Ronaldinho, Pogba, Drogba, and more, as well as for some top EPL and national teams. The young designer has been featured on our page before, and it was great to have an in person linkup and give people a chance to cop some of his unique merch.
Bringing authentic virtual connections and relationships to real life is always a beautiful experience. From multiple Photographer & Fashion Friday features to NY’s own global footy influencer Elischa Edouard, each of them are contributing to the culture and align with the vision we have for footy in the US. You can feel the shift in the country. We really can’t wait for more of these linkups in the future, so stay tuned for our next event.
